A paternity suit concerns the recognition of the child’s legal parents and establishes each parent’s rights
and responsibilities to the child.
The steps include:
- Filing of Petition
- Service of summons on respondent(s)
- Answer due 30 days after service
- Paternity Testing (optional)
- Pre-trial Hearing
- Trial
Mediation services can be requested or ordered by the court before or after the trial.
