Circuit Civil Department
Circuit Civil Cases are for amounts over $25,000.00. Example of cases handled by Circuit Civil are Employment Discrimination, Personal Injury, Eminent Domain/Condemnation,
Expungement/Correction of Arrest Record, Declaratory Judgment and Temporary Restraining Orders.
Associate Civil Cases are for amounts less then $25,000.00. Example of cases handled by Associate Civil are Rent and Possession, Director of Revenue,
Replevin, Foreign Judgment, Delinquent County and City Tax, Name Changes, and Collection Cases.
The Civil Department also handles Domestic Relation Cases. Examples of those cases are Dissolution of Marriage,
Paternity, Motion to Modify, Ex Partes, and Family Access Motions.
Small Claims Cases have a limit of $5,000.00. A Small Claims Case is a money judgment only no property.
