Biography
Judge Alexander was born and raised in Clay County. He has been married for over thirty years and has three adult children. Judge Alexander’s education includes being a graduate of University of Missouri–Columbia, receiving a B.A. in history, in 1990, and being a graduate of University of Missouri–Kansas City, receiving his J.D., in 1997. Judge Alexander is also a military veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, 1990–1994.
Judge Alexander’s employment history includes the following: assistant prosecuting attorney, Buchanan County, 1997–1999; assistant prosecuting attorney, Clay County, 1999–2004; chief assistant prosecuting attorney, Clay County, 2004–2008; municipal judge, Excelsior Springs, 2004–2008 and municipal prosecutor, Smithville, 2006–2008. Judge Alexander was appointed Circuit Judge, Division One, on August. 6, 2008, by Governor Matt Blunt.
Courtroom Schedule
Judge Alexander’s caseload is mostly felony criminal cases, with some circuit civil cases as well.
Judge Alexander also presides over the Grand Jury and all four of Clay County’s Treatment Courts: Adult Substance Abuse Court, Veterans Court, Mental Health Court and DWI Court.
